Ovaries are two tiny organs that lie alongside a woman's uterus. In healthy women, the ovaries produce an egg each month and release it into the fallopian tubes where it then travels to the uterus. However, if any abnormality exists within the ovaries, namely an ovarian cyst, a woman's natural menstrual cycle may be interrupted, and she may be at risk of developing more serious conditions, such as ovarian cancer.
Our articles outline the normal production of the ovaries, as well as the causes, symptoms and treatments for ovarian cysts.
